Goodness is beauty
What does man actually give back to the world? Do we only take, take, take? Can we find it in ourselves to at least thank the Creator and acknowledge His Mercy and Greatness, or are we too busy enjoying the world and what it contains, to stop and think for a minute where it all came from?
Wherever we go throughout the world we will see some form of beauty. We see it as we look up and see the fluffy, white clouds, forming patterns across the sky. Or in the night, as the moon shines gently on a sleeping earth. The stars that shine, glittering their far-away light that transcends time and space to reach us here below.
The earth is spread out in plains of soft green grass, desert slopes or mountain peaks. The falling water that quenches the thirst of all living things, sheds beauty on the beholder.
Yet, in spite of all the gifts placed at the service of man, the hand of greed, and love of power destroys what it touches. The gifts of nature that lighten the soul, and cast depth in to the thoughts of man, become dead and dry, crushed beneath the giant footsteps of modern day life.
In harmony with nature, lies the goodness of man; his obedience to his Creator and his inbuilt sense of responsibility for the earth and all it contains. The standard bearers of piety, protect the beauty of plants, animals and the earth, to maintain their vitality for the next and coming generations.
In contrast to the seasoned hand of righteousness, lies greed and selfishness which knows no harmony with nature and life itself. Such inclement qualities race to take the pick of all harvests, devouring the good of nature and then leaving it bare and barren, with an ever searching eye, seeking more beauty to enjoy and waste, oblivious to the ones, who will following his wake.
Such is modern day man. The majority of people have been brain washed into a consumer mentality, which only thinks of superficial, transient, material gain. Plastic toys, plastic utensils, throw away containers and disposable people. The people who are not the correct size and shape that match the glossy magazines, where do they end up? Human refuse? For values today have shifted away from the beauty of nature and the virtue of goodness is scorned and called 'out-dated.'
People live and die in cement buildings, concrete cities filled with moving, noisy life, all in a hurry going somewhere or nowhere. The beauty of nature, the beauty of goodness and the beauty of life is too often lost on masses, who scramble to buy more and more disposable items that further pollute this dying world - driving cars that send out smoke which suffocates the very air we breathe and finally when laid to rest, this battered worn out human being is sent once again to the earth from where it came. Perhaps only then will it nourish the soil that will feed the next generation.
