Where
do babies come from Mum?
This is the conversation of a child to her mother. We get to see inside the child's questioning mind as she ponders on the marvels of life.
"Mum, from
where do babies come?"
"Where does
the milk you feed the baby come from Mum?"
" I'd thought
I'd ask because they are so small."
"Mum, why are
babies so small and how do they grow? How does your milk turn
into their flesh?"
"It seems so
strange, that even if I close my eyes and concentrate I cannot
stop the beating of my heart."
"When I was
born Mum, did Allah know how many times my heart would beat? I'm
sure He did."
"I wonder how
many more beats are left".
"If I sit
still and feel its movement, I can count them, one, two, three,...
it's scary isn't it Mum. If it stops, I die. And yet my heart is
so small Mum. I didn't know I had one, until you told me the
other day. It worked Mum, even though I didn't know it was there."
"It's just
like the little baby, that cries. He doesn't even know he has
hands Mum. But I can see them. After a bit, he'll discover them
and then we'll say he's so cute, as he looks in wonder at them
and smiles at Allah's gift.".
"How many things do I have Mum, that I don't know about? But then, how many things do you have Mum, that you don't know about?"
