I Am Woman!

|
We
are so much more special and important than the world makes us feel.
Muslim
women live in every country of the world. They face every imaginable
dilemma
and challenge. What do we see?
The
courageous women of Africa –
The
patience and steadfastness of Palestinian women.
The
fortitude and gentleness of Asian women.
The
dedication and strength of women in the Russian states.
The
staying power of Muslim women in Western countries.
We
see women who make Allah the Almighty the center of life; struggle to
keep balance,
harmony, peace, and love in the family unit; strive to educate
themselves and
fulfill their individual potential; and bend in gentleness to the small
and
weak while speaking out bravely in the face of the powerful and
oppressive.
Very
often it is women who bear the brunt of the effects of war,
earthquakes,
famine, drought, and the unending disasters that affect the world. Yet
they are
often the ones who keep the family intact and the community filled with
hope
and direction.
All
the elements that constitute the inner workings of life can be found in
a
woman. She holds the keys to insight, creativity, giving, and reaching
within.
It's
all about her capacity to love, to give, to forgive, to keep going no
matter
what surrounds her, and to struggle to fulfill her potential as an
individual.
First
and foremost, she is a servant of Allah the Almighty. In that alone,
she is
valued and revered even if the world fails to recognize her. She has
intrinsic
value, in a world that puts obstacle after obstacle in her way.
Celebrate
the women in your life. Turn to your mother, your sister, your wife –
to the
women who seek to bring balance and harmony to the world.
“To every one there is a direction to which they turn. So hasten towards all that is good…” (Al Baqarah, 2:148)
