The
scum rises to the top
“The world is starving,” they call.
“Overpopulation!” they cry in despair.
Third world countries are sent rushing
for the ‘pill’, feeling guilty for having too many children.
Something low class about large families these days. From
childhood, we are taught how to buy, how to enjoy and how to keep
what we have!
“You! Are the most important person in the world”, we are so
often told. At the end of individualism, lies cloning; the
essence of self-conceit. The instinct of self-preservation has
gone hay-wire! Children reach adulthood, still believing they are
the center of the universe and deserve the best of what life has
to offer, without giving a thought about what their
responsibility is for the life they have already obtained.
In today’s climate, where ‘morality’ is a dirty word,
people reel back in fear and dread of having their ‘rights’
taken from them. The ever-present, dominating demand for Me!
Myself! And I! shouts in chorus through council meetings,
committee steering groups, non governmental organizations, party
pressure that ensures that the ‘individual’ must always win
in the end.
“We have the right to perpetuate ourselves,” they cry, “but
third world countries are still over-populated.”
Cloning people who already exist is logical for those who still
live in a vacuum of self-engrossment! The ever present battle
with death, continues. However, the question remains, who will be
the ones in a position to clone themselves? The minds rushes
around an imaginary map of the world, never stopping on the
African continent, South east Asia or South America. Only the
very small percentage of the world’s materially well-financed
‘elite’ could ever hope to copy their physical identity, to
bless future generations.
The same old story world over, the rich get richer and the poor
get more into debt, while thinking they’re keeping up with hi-tech
society and modernism. The same ones who steer the globalization
myth of happiness and productivity are, unfortunately the same
ones who will be in the financial position with social
accessilibity, to clone!
In a world where the rat-race creeps under our doors and window-sills,
we have to face up to the fact that no-one gets ‘that’ kind
of money unless they stand on a few heads going up the ladder of
success, cheat a few, steal a bit and twist the truth . Who will
be cloned? In a world where morality is out of date, the decision
makers of now and the future are hell bent on forging life to
perpetuate their greed and materialism.
It is however, comforting to note, that in their foolishness, the
best they can do is copy the blue prints of life, D.N.A but the
spirit, intellect and soul of a person is far beyond their reach
for it exists and comes from ‘Morality’ of which they have no
part.
